MASTER KILLERS CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
PART A
Brett Logan/Seth Xavier: leads a double life as a cop/serial killer. Seth, the killer, is out for revenge against a known pimp and drug dealer who goes by the name of Dr. Sugar Love Daddy. Love Daddy indoctrinated Seth’s mother into the seedy world of drugs and prostution. As a result of her drug use Seth was born with numerous health issues. During his childhood Seth was in and out of hospitals, group homes, and foster care. He directly blames the death of his mother and other events in his life on Love Daddy. Logan on the other hand is a spiritual man who believes in the metaphysical. He is often troubled by his past and sometimes shows signs of mental instability. He maintains a very healthy diet and is very serious about taking care of himself. He is a very focused individual sometimes to a fault. He believes in understanding the motives behind a person’s behavior rather than prejudging them. This puts him at odds with his partner Natalie who believes the exact opposite. Seth is good at the fighting arts and mathematics. Despite all of his attempts, Seth cannot bring himself to kill any of his victims. Is this because they are strong independent women who fight back or because Seth has bad judgment when it comes to selecting his victims? Perhaps it’s a little of both. Seth can explode in a fit of rage when he doesn’t get his way which clearly is a regression to his childhood temper tantrums. Unfortunately, since he never had a real childhood, many of his boyish tendencies and urges surface as an adult. This makes him on one end fun to be with manifesting a playful and easygoing disposition but on the other end overly emotional and violent. Seth is not one to let things go so it would be wise not to cross him. A careless remark or insensitive comment rest assured would not be easily forgotten. Rather then confront you directly Seth will internalize it letting the matter fester all the while planning your demise. Yet remarkably, and for what cannot logically be explained, he exercises great patience and love for Natalie who tests him at every turn.
Character Traits- Bad judgment, mathematician, unable to reconcile differences, lack of unification, appealing to likes and dislikes causing disunity through a lack of understanding of his true self. Lack of impartiality and equanimity. Prejudice, closed mindedness and the lack of seeking guidance to achieve unity with others.
Shakti: comes from a very traditional and ancient culture. She is biracial, a product of her mother being raped by a French missionary who betrayed her trust. She is very knowledgeable in ancient Chinese/African healing and martial arts. Shakti, whose original Christian birth name was Eve Joubert, left her country to venture out into the Western world for monetary gain. This was not for her individual gain or ambition, but to help bring her people out of a state of depravation due to colonialism. Quiet, sweet, attractive and mysterious, Shakti has mastered the 11 Chambers of mystical knowledge but still secretly battles with the life style she has chosen. She knows killing is wrong and tries desperately to justify this by killing only those who have done wrong. However, her goal is to heal them through herbs and spiritual culture. She believes in looking at the motivating factors which make up human behavior and then addressing their needs accordingly. Consequently, she believes that there is hope for all if given truth to live by. This is the exact opposite of what Natalie believes. Shakti is a powerful and expert fighter. Her powers and skills far surpass that of her nemesis Seth. Shakti is very loving and caring willing to help those in need even to the point of sacrificing herself. This sometimes doesn’t come across as she can be a real wiseass with a practical and no nonsense approach. Her keen intuition allows her to see right through things so don’t try and put one over on her. You’ll often find Shakti gazing at a person for long periods of time. Her beautiful glossy eyes conceal what is really going on inside her mind which we could not guess in a million years. There were stories which said that she is a reincarnated African princess heralding from the 5th Dynasty of ancient Egypt. What we do know for certain is that she was a revolutionary freedom fighter who fought against the Dutch and French occupation of East Africa. The Dutch in their effort to exert imperial control killed off all males including Shakti’s husband. In her early years her biracial heritage was always a point of confusion, as she never knew where to place her loyalty. But after the murder of her husband and death of her child it became crystal clear that she was black. Reconciling these differences within her racial makeup and chosen career path would always be a crossroad throughout her life. After managing to escape she set out to find the mystical temple of Atum deep in the heart of central Africa. During her journey she sought shelter in a cave where she discovered an underground ancient city. Positioned upon the throne of a long dead Queen Mother, Shakti stumbled onto the Nekhebet talisman. Foraged over a thousand years ago and said to have extraordinary power, Shakti kept it as a souvenir of her journey. As she continued her journey she had the misfortune of encountering the much-feared Tutu people. Known for cutting off the ligaments of wonderers into their sacred region, the Tutus planned to make an example of Shakti by ceremoniously crucifying her for all wonderers to see. Before carrying out their sacrifice a high Priest did the usual oracle reading which astonishingly pronounced Shakti to be a living Goddess. Immediately she was released and with great fanfare escorted through the harsh terrain to the awaiting mystical temple. It was there that Shakti underwent the training of the 11 Chambers. The exact nature of that training and the torturous regiment that Shakti must have endured still remains a secret to this day. But let us just say that after leaving the temple and freeing her people the Dutch and French were begging for mercy. Shakti is a master at manipulating energy forces earning her the prestigious title as “Grand Witch” among voodoo practitioners. Astrology is one of her areas of expertise and while starring high up at the midnight stars she is known to predict the rise and fall of nations. If you are humble and listen attentively she might just tell you your future.
Character Traits - underworld dealings, negative surroundings, negative environment adversely affecting the psyche, illogical thinking, linear thought process, extreme emotionalism, pressure, nerves, low life activity, inconstant in belief, scheming, cunning, segregation, cold and calculating, a scholar, techniques, inflexibility, extremists attitude, and the desire to acquire information.
Prisencia: is a confirmed serial killer who preys upon both sexes alike. An attractive woman, she uses her grace and beauty to lure in her victims. Prisencia is a very destructive individual who thrives upon chaos and the occult. She kills for the thrill taking great pleasure in watching her victims suffer slowly. She is a very sexual woman who enjoys the company of both men and women often striking while in the process of making love. The act of sex and killing is very stimulating to her sending her into a state of utter euphoria. On the outside, or upon first impression, she may seem like a sweet young naive girl but this is far from the course. In fact, Prisencia is by any sense of the word truly evil. She hides within the dark underbelly of society coming out only to strike at her intended victims. Presencia is known for studying a person’s habits and ultimate weaknesses before making her move. When exposed for what she is, or confronted openly and directly, she shrivels away as her strength lies in her deceptive ways. She is not one to communicate much through words. The terms “I love you” or “I want you baby” she has found are not as powerful as a seductive stare or arousing body language. In fact she has got it down to such a science pity the man who would fall victim to her spell. It was during a trip to the Australian outback as a young girl where she honed her craft. Prisencia stumbled across a serpent nestled between the bushes. Emnarmed by the creature, she dropped her guard and was bitten. After many nights in the hospital she recalled what transpired and realized that it was the serpent’s hypnotic charm and stare which captivated her. This one event would change who she was and how she would act forever.
Character Traits – Lewd, idle, wasteful craving drugs, alcohol, immoral, motivated by fantasies and empty forms, narcissistic, sensually aberrated, shameless, illogical and irrational. Lascivious and timorous. Sexually exploitative.
Natalie Ann Stewart: New York City cop and criminologist. She does not believe in the spiritual or supernatural even though she has psychic ability. Natalie believes everything can be explained through deductive logic. She is deeply in love with her partner Logan and tries as best as she can to hide this fact. She fears that Logan will leave the police force, which means the end of their partnership and any chance of a relationship. She is jealous of Logan's past and present girlfriends. Natalie denies the gift of her psychic powers and hates part of herself for it. In many respects she sees her psychic ability as an abnormality. Natalie tries to suppress and ignore it whenever possible going as far as to keep it a secret among her colleagues. She has a tendency of physically acting out her psychic visions which leaves her depleted of energy. The CIA once recruited Natalie for Project Hickerous. The black-ops program was designed to train agents to track down wanted serial killers through the use of remote viewing. Subsequently and for reasons unknown Natalie was discharged from the program. No further information is available. Very stubborn and often narrow-minded, Natalie believes that Seth needs to be imprisoned or killed for his crimes as she believes that criminals never change their ways. This puts her at odds with Logan who believes the exact opposite. For all her education, Natalie does not look at the whole picture or consider extenuating circumstances in human behavior. Her logical investigations into murders are often interrupted by her psychic powers, which actually gives her more information into the situation. Because Natalie is well educated in the science of criminology she relies too much on the traditional textbook information in putting a profile of the killer. However, this profile cannot provide the "why" but can only guess as to the reasons a personal suddenly becomes a killer. It is this fault that Natalie does not address but yet must confront when her psychic powers intercede. She is forced to deal with this because it challenges the very foundation of her belief system. For once she realizes that things are more complex than what you gather from a book. Even more importantly she comes to realize that the use of logic alone has severe limitations in her field of work. Natalie is not really a psychic in the true sense of the word. Rather, she is an empath for she cannot actually predict the future but can only relate events that have already transpired. At times Natalie can be rather conceded as this is derived from her being educated in the most prestigious institutions. It is Logan’s intuitive nature in detective work and self-confidence despite his less than fortune background that both attracts Natalie and brings her back to earth. She cannot help but feel insure around him which presents a challenge for her. Natalie excelled at her studies putting her at the head of the class and often the subject of ridicule by other students. This was not solely because of Natalie’s academic achievements but the fact that her father, Dr. Michael A. Stewart, M.D., was a major financial contributor to Natalie’s University. This placed her in the unenvious position of having to prove that her advancements were more so due to her own merits than those fostered by her father’s bank account. It was widely known that Natalie was a trust fund girl. This has somewhat scarred her which could explain why Natalie always tries to do more than what’s expected. A contributing factor to her aggressive personality was being a woman in an all male dominated field. She rarely speaks of the overt sexism she faced even from her mentor Professor Irwin F. Kellogg PHD, who tried to prevent her from graduating after she refused his advances. After her father got involved Professor Kellogg took an unexpected and early retirement never to be heard from again. Natalie is a detail freak often nitpicking on everything from Logan’s apparel to his diction. It has not been confirmed but many speculate that she has Excessive Compulsive Disorder. She suffers from extreme mistreal cramps turning her into a woman not to be messed with. Natalie doesn’t have many friends perhaps none at all. Since she is a workaholic there aren’t many who share her passion for the job or care to delve into deep forensic discussions 24 hours a day. Her free time is spent going to conferences, surfing forensic websites, studying crime scenes, authoring papers and reading numerous textbooks on the latest advancements. We should be clear on this that Natalie is not just good at what she does; Natalie is the best!
Character Traits- Lack of sharing, lack of giving seeking nothing in return. False understanding of love and justice. Inability to see the whole, greed, boastful, pleasure seeking, unsocial, unappreciated, hypocritical regarding religion and the law. False religious, legal and scientific tenets. To achieve wealth, she must understand that we all hold property in common regardless of the theory of private property that dominates the world. Lack of balancing.
Mayor Sebastian Travis: cunning, crafty, eternally friendly, but not upfront with his motives. Well liked by the community of City Island and overall a good politician and speaker. Travis is a socialist who believes that when government fails it falls upon the people to correct the ills of society. He subscribes to this philosophy because many years ago it was Travis himself who had to take up the cause in stopping the distribution of drugs from the Mexican drug cartels. He enlisted the help of federal agents to set upon a defense perimeter around City Island to block the insurgence of Mexican drug dealers. In a brazen maneuver straight out of a movie, in spite of numerous death threats, Travis stood front and center of the blockade holding an AKA-47. However a year later the cartels tried a new approach. Their plan was to covertly increase the flow of immigration into City Island as a means of creating an ethnically based enclave who could vote Travis out of office. That tactic proved unsuccessful serving only to fuel racial tensions. Travis interceded to quell maters and in the end he was seen as a hero once again. So successful was Travis that his efforts garnered the attention of the media and the President of the United States himself. As such he has always been a community and Civil Rights activists. Travis walks a tightrope as political support comes with a dear price. In recent years City Island has turned from predominately white, to black, to presently consisting of various ethnic enclaves. This mosaic of people has changed Travis’s campaign approach one incorporating universal interests as opposed to that of Black Nationalism. This however is not a problem as Travis is fantastic at the art of networking. His whit and charm has won him the favor of many in high and low places. He is able to bring together or synthesize diverse ideas into one monolithic theme for rallying the people behind.
Character Traits – Serious attitude toward social protocols, inability to accept structure and limitations. Capable of constructing issues based on creating visual images and metaphors. Social, yet serious about work and duty. Agreeable, pleasant, seeking to bring people together based on external and internal interests. Expresses joy through hard and long protracted work. Harmonious, sympathetic, narcissistic, steadfast, studious sometimes stubborn, mistrustful, inhibited and stingy.
Benjamin Harper: political yes man for Mayor Travis. Ben is in charge of Publicity and Public Relationships. Most importantly he is the point of contact for Travis’s campaign machine. Ben is very analytical, a quick thinker who can see right through the exterior into the heart of the matters. With a BA in Communication and Masters in Journalism, Ben began his political career writing for the Boston Journal exposing Fortune 500 companies for racial discrimination. So successful and hated was Ben that his name became feared throughout the city of Boston. After inadvertently exposing a major company who financially supported his paper Ben was forced to resign. His reputation preceded him causing many to turn him away for employment. He moved to City Island where he once again took up the cause of racial discrimination starting his own newspaper and radio news program. While attending a high society fund raising event with plans to write an article exposing Congressman Travis as a phony, the two met and immediately hit it off. It wasn’t soon before plans were made in secret to use their combined talents in a Mayoral campaign for City Island. The election was a landslide and Travis took office appointing Ben as head of Public Relations and next Campaign Manager.
Character Traits – quarrelsome, antagonistic, arrogant, rash, excessively passionate, zealous, skilful, motivated by situations involving challenges, energetic, irritable, abstract analogous thinking, detachment, courageous, seeking justice to the extreme, forceful, enterprising, loves hard work, urge to move forward in life, overconfidence, seeking power, and self-motivated.
Dr. Sugar Love Daddy: this guy is a trip! He LOVES the ladies. Especially young beautiful girls. In fact he prays upon the innocence of young girls in order to enlist them in his drug and prostitution ring. Love Daddy knows exactly what to say and when to say it. To say that he manipulates these girls would not be entirely correct as he was blessed with deep penetrating insight into how a woman perceives herself and the world. It is not as if he tells them what they want to hear; but rather, the depth of his understanding goes beyond mere clever words. If he had lead the straight and narrow path Love Daddy might have been a top psychiatrist or psycho-pharmacist. Don’t compare him to the common pimp or drug dealer on the street. Love Daddy’s ambition and intelligence is far above that. His heyday has long since vanished as old aged has caught up with him. But somehow he still manages to keep his odd sense of humor and lust for the women. He is known for his famous catch phrase “Rat-a-tat-tat.” Although he is a drug dealer he is smart enough to stay away from using the product himself. This is not because of any moral belief on his part but because he knows the effects of drug use would ruin his good looks. Love Daddy is the architect of his own designer drug which he has dubbed “Euphoria”. While serving a brief stint in prison Love Daddy was sexually assaulted and had to be hospitalized following the incident. The experience traumatized him making him more covert in his drug distribution operation to avoid any future prison time.
Character Traits – Uncaring, vacillating, neglectful, discontent, inclined to intoxications, living beggarly, fearful, concerned about himself, hating work, unsteadfast, lack of devotion and support, can’t put his money where his mouth is, backing down.
Devlin Davis: nice young cop not very experience in the homicide division. Devlin is very egotistical and believes he is just as good as Logan. He has a secret crush on Natalie and greatly envies Logan. He cannot see why Logan has not made any moves toward Natalie when it is obvious she is in love with him. This in itself causes Devlin to be highly suspicious. He dislikes working as a cop in City Island and wants to move up in the ranks and will do anything to make this happen. He has a way of reading too much into things placing him on the verge of paranoia. But it is this same trait that can in some cases serve him well as a detective. Devlin in not a team player. He goes along with the group only as a means to further his own ambitions. Innately he is not a bad guy just someone unwilling to wait for opportunities that would come in due time. As such he forces matters rather then letting things take their natural course. Make no mistake about it, Devlin is a proponent of justice and believes very much in right and wrong. He is a resident of City Island making the matter of finding the killer also more of a personal concern.
Character Traits- Bad judgments, mistaking education and information for true knowledge, unfounded optimism, use of intuitive skills, unable to reconcile differences, I know it all attitude, seeking higher knowledge, truth premise, objectivity or lack thereof, the Tao.
Kayla: is into New Age philosophy and the sensual pleasures that life has to offer. She is an artist who is free spirited loving and devoted. Kayla craves intimacy and honestly in relationships. This puts her at odds with Logan who does not want anything serious or too deep. As such their relationship was doomed from the start. Her strength lies in the fact that she is very supportive but on the same token can be somewhat irresponsible when it comes to her own issues. Kayla wants to draw, paint, sculpt, anything to express herself creatively. She is not the jealous type and understands that Logan may sometimes need the freedom to explore. Her open mindedness is ideal for Logan who hasn’t quite figured out what he wants in a woman. There is never a police ball or function that you won’t find Kayla at lovingly supporting Logan in his efforts. Yet, she is never imposing or presumptuous. Her only fault is that she can be overly friendly and too lackadaisical about matters.
Character Traits – Extremely devoted, emotional, overly accommodating, extremely nurturing, maternal, sweet mannered, partial comfort loving, caring, carelessness, inattentive at times, spiritual, free of cares, yielding, pliable, timid, loves children, daydreamer and into the healing arts.
Joan Xavier: Seth's mother and drug addict. Joan died at the early age of 35 due to a drug over dose. Originally, she had dreams of becoming a famous dancer. It was at one of her performances where she met the so-called man of her dreams. Their courtship however did not last long as she learned he was an infamous drug dealer. Dr. Sugar Love Daddy as he called himself, introduced Joan to a new powerful drug which she found improved her dancing and gave her an inexhaustible wealth of creative energy. Despite this she continued her relationship with him which took the form of an on again, off again thing. This led to her becoming violent during her withdrawal periods and her young son Seth was the recipient of her unbridled anger. As usual Dr. Love Daddy used her lack of money and dependence upon the drug as a means to control and manipulate Joan. Not much information is known about Joan since her untimely departure.
Character Traits – Extreme pleasure seeking, overly expansive (for food, sex, material things, etc.) unlawful, wasteful, unsocial, hypocritical, unbalance life, violation of natural law, low life conduct, nervousness, extremely emotional, lack of focus, too aggressive and extreme in matters, and wavering.
Little Seth Xavier: son of Joan Nelson, this young boy has never known a day of peace in his life. He is s marred by physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his mother. Seth, for most of his young life was neglected forcing him to fend for himself. He would eat out of garbage cans, wash himself in dirty water and often sleep in the filthiest conditions. Joan made no effort to watch over him or to ensure that the house was kept clean. Little Seth can sometimes been seen with open wounds across his small malnourished body. The small wounds are not from abuse but are inflicted by the small rodents who used to take turns nibbling away at Seth while he slept. However, to meet this young boy you would be amazed by his warm smile and loving nature. It would seem that much of his pain and torment would simply roll off his back or perhaps it was just deeply internalized. This is not to take away from his abuse that he underwent which was without a doubt horrid. Joan showed no mercy as she herself was mentally ill as result of the many designer drugs she took from Love Daddy.
Character Traits – Lack of joy and harmony. Unable to become one with others, timid, unsocial, no pleasure in life, not rising above likes and dislikes, looking at externals as the basis for joy, unhappy, disunity, and lack of fruitfulness in matters.
Prina: a very beautiful young woman who is into the physical. Prina wants to look good and feel good. She is a club hopper frequently traveling from club to club all hours of the night. She prefers to go it alone or if she is accompanied it is by no more than just one of her girlfriends. She loves to dance erotically and flirt with strangers. These chance encounters excite her to no end. She is known to sleep around and delve into drug use especially Euphoria. Prina met Seth at the Limelight Dance Club where they hit it off right away. Seth did not fall to her seduction which surprised and intrigued Prina. Rather, Seth played the game right back at her and Prina just couldn’t resist his allure. She accompanied him back to his apartment and the rest is history.
Character Traits- materialistic, animal instincts, emotional, primal emotions, fear, instinctive reactions, animal attraction, physical appearance, tension, externalism and vitality.
Lana: is all-together an assertive, confident young woman. She is self-made and would consider herself a high-class girl. She is very outgoing and has had an incredibly difficult upbringing which groomed her for independence. She is street smart, possessing a high degree of common sense. Tough, yet feminine, you’ll most likely see Lana hustling here and there for a buck. There is no pretense on her part as she is open and honest while maintaining a type of no nonsense approach to matters. Her wise cracks will let you know right away that she is not one to be messed with. Lana takes great pride in her self-reliance rarely asking anyone for a favor. When she falls for a man she can be very vulnerable letting her guard down enough to become abused and taken advantage. When this happens her girlfriends, who have been close to Lana for years, usually comfort her. However Lana can sometimes be overly bossy with those near and dear to her. She met Seth in a rather strange way at the City Island Festival of the Moon Parade. The two wore masks while dancing around each other until they eventually locked in a passionate kiss. When it was over Seth offered to escort her back to her apartment to which Lana graciously accepted.
Character Traits- forceful, quarrelsome, smart mouthed, antagonistic, impetuous, rash, excessively passionate, very irritable, quick witted, clandestine behavior, hard to deal with, sexually aggressive, unyielding, a bitch, vindictive, a trouble maker and low life behavior.
Lily: a flamboyant woman who is used to getting her own way. One might call Lana a spoiled child who cannot see beyond her own wants and desires. She loves flowers and colorful outfits. But all this is somewhat a vale hiding her true nature which is very insecure. She doesn’t feel that she is very smart and pretends to know more then she really does. The surprising thing about Lily is that at times she can be a real airhead and then suddenly out of the blue say the most profound and brilliant things. There are moments when she can be bitchy but these are usually short lived. She can be quick to cut you off only to later regret her decision. Overall she lacks the ability to see things in their entirety.
Character Traits – lack of circumspection, weak willed, devitalized, indecisive, boastful yet empty, lack of focus, air head, lack of oxygen to the brain, no attention to details, illogical, cold, critical, pretending to know yet ignorant, selfish, proud, and opinionated.
Delivery Boy: an on the go type of person. His life is very disorganized and there is never enough time in the day for him to get things done. Prioritizing is a definite problem for him especially when it comes to his relationship with his girlfriend Tina. It’s not that they argue or are unhappy with each other; but rather, it’s about an absence of structure which symbolizes his life in general. His place is a wreck which doesn’t bother him at all. This guy seeks freedom from restriction and ties with people or things. A job as a delivery boy affords him this opportunity of changeability. As such he is up on the latest fads and trends. He once tried to start a union for delivery boys but showed up late too many times to member meetings. Eventually people became disillusioned and stopped attending.
Character Traits- lack of structure, carefree, freedom from restrictions, stingy, stubborn, malcontent, jealous, mistrustful, unreliable, phobias and separative.
City Island: plays host to an eclectic group of residents ranging from upper class to lower class, black and white, living together harmoniously. Only a thirty-minute drive from Manhattan, it is an isolated community populated by seafood restaurants and fishing boats. It is truly self-contained harnessing a mix of city and suburban culture all in one. To visit it you would think it is a world caught in a time warp. Crime is almost non-existent, residents never thinking twice about locking their doors. It is a popular getaway for those living in Manhattan and the Bronx. During the weekends families from all over the Tri-State area travel there for the best seafood money can buy. The residents themselves are humble and unassuming welcoming any visitors who may stop by. The women are friendly and the men never imposing. There is almost no evidence of litter or garbage for that matter, as great care is taken in the city’s upkeep. However, looming beneath the underbelly of the city is a seedy world of drugs used mostly by the young and naïve. Fortunately, it is not wide spread surfacing mostly during the annual Festival of the Moon where city residents adorn themselves in extravagant costumes letting their inhibitions go. Since sex and drugs are in common use during this period, police officials take a very liberal approach to it. This festival is what originally attracted Love Daddy to City Island. It was the perfect opportunity to distribute his product without intervention from the local law. Since drugs are relatively new many are lured in by it. This is especially true of the designer drugs which are irresistible to their young and influential. This setting is the perfect breeding ground for a killer to operate. One unlike the world has ever seen.
